This is NOT meant to be incendiary. I'm trying to learn. Why not use Netlify instead? It seems to have everything you need from a static site host and has a comprehensive, well-documented toolchain. Seriously, what am I missing? Would DO be better under peak loads or something?

No, it's just that Netlify is proprietary and only works for static sites. The method in this article is more general.

For this use-case Netlify is the better option.
