pwset

Purpose

Sets the ___location of the password file for an Oracle ASM or database instance.

Syntax and Description

pwset { --asm  | --dbuniquename string } file_path

Table 10-15 lists the options for the pwset command.

Option Description

--asm

The --asm option associates the password file with the Oracle ASM instance that ASMCMD is logged into.

--dbuniquename string

The --dbuniquename string option identifies the database unique name associated with the password file.

file_path

The file_path value identifies the ___location where the password file is located.

pwset sets the ___location of the password file for an Oracle ASM or database instance to the value specified by file_path. Either --dbuniquename or –-asm is required to identify a CRSD resource.

The SYSASM or SYSDBA privilege is required to manage the Oracle ASM and database password files.

Example

The following example sets the ___location of the Oracle ASM password file in a disk group.
