My main frustrations are with the platform's session management. The timeout period for a session is quite short, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, logging into the platform using a code doesn't always work smoothly or reliably.

We've written many spiders, but after using BD for the past year on a few sites, we will choose them whenever it is possible to extract the data we need using their service.

We've run into a variety of issues over that year and they have all been addressed - most of them promptly. Enhancements to the extracted data or to the scope of data to be extracted have also been implemented. In the first phase of my research, I used Bright Data’s services to scrape data from the AdultWork website in the United Kingdom. The extracted data played a critical role in analyzing trafficking-related indicators and the illicit massage industry. What stood out to me the most was the prompt delivery and the consistently responsive support from the Bright Data team.

As I move into the next phase of my research—I will be re-visiting the dataset for training classification models using this data. Currently, working with Bright Data to customize a scraper for a related study. We, at Bar Ilan University deeply value their work and look forward to continuing this partnership in future projects. They give you a bunch of solutions, countries and all kind of proxies you can choose from and configure your solution accordingly. Also, they have a good service that will help yo configure investigate and solve issues that you ran into Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

although they did gave me a good service eventually, it took them almost a day to answer my question and go live on zoom with me. The product itself does the job pretty well. Both the Web Unlocker API and the Browser API were easy to integrate and worked as advertised.

Bright Data provides APIs and infrastructure that simplify building modern webscrapers. They've already thought through proxys, CAPTCHAs, browser fingerprinting... all of the things that are time consuming and a major hassle to build and maintain yourself. Their team is wonderful to work with, super responsive, and helped us get our code adapted to their API in short order. In a matter of hours, we were able to deploy a dramatically improved workflow and data collection process, all without having to build and maintain dozens of different packages or plugins! It was easy to find the dataset in their catalog, understand its format, figure out how to query for the right cut of the data that I needed, and finally to download it.

There are countless great things about Bright Data. Namely, the proxies are simple to use and integrate seamlessly into Python code. With a limited amount of technical data in scraping, I found that the no-code scrapers were very helpful and exactly what I needed to focus on my work. The amount of time that it saved me is now invested in continuing my research and analyzing a much larger dataset that would have taken me months to collect.

I am now able to fully control my collection with many self service options on their platform, enabling me to collect that data for my research for the next two-months at ease. After the first few snapshots collected, I received a clean dataset as a CSV file where I am now able to analyze with my team.

Something important to note as an academic researcher is the data collection integrity and methods, therefore I was happy to learn about their ethical approach regarding their data collection. Knowing that they are compliant with the GDPR and CCPA was very helpful for our team when presenting the methods of our data collection to our professors. Bright Data's "Trust Center" page was very informative and addressed may of our questions regarding the ethical aspect of scraping as we were slightly hesitant as we are less familiar with such technologies.
